Neuron Report
About SYN1 Promoter:
The synapsin I (SYN1) protein is a neuron-specific phosphoprotein localized to the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles that to function in the regulation of neurotransmitter release. SYN1 promoter contains cis-sites for the transcriptional activator Sp1 in close proximity to REST binding motifs. The SYN1 promoter has been used to achieve highly neuron-specific long-term transgene expression.
Imaging / Label Neuron:
GenTarget developed a set of reporting lentivirus for specifically labeling neuron. Those reporting lentivirus has a luminescent report or a fluorescent report under the promoter of human SYN1 gene (click to see its sequence) that specifically expressed in neuron. Those reporter lentivirus are best suitable for infecting the human or mouse Neuron Cells, as well as for the signal pathway research on SYN1 promoter regulation.
Those reporting lentivirus also constitutively express a fluorescent selection marker or an antibiotic selection marker under the RSV promoter (Rous Sarcoma Virus Promoter) which is a moderate to strong promoter in most cell types. This selection marker is used to select the lentivirus infected cells (to generate the stable cell lines) via antibiotic killing or fluorescent cell sorting. See the scheme below for lentivector core expression cassette.
The premade, ready-to-use reporter lentivirus provides a much easier tool to specifically labeling or reporting for human or mouse Neuron Cells in vitro and in vivo via the luciferase signal or fluorescent signal.
